Why it keeps saying the file is too big
Phone photos are big. A single picture can be several megabytes, and plenty of upload forms, email attachments and website builders simply refuse anything over their limit.
Instead of squashing everything, HTML Lens looks for the largest, sharpest copy that still fits under 5 MB. Most photos just need a little less quality. Only really big ones get smaller in dimensions too.
Common questions
Is it free?
Yes. Getting an image under 5 MB here is free, with no account and no watermark.
Does my photo get uploaded anywhere?
No. The resizer runs in your browser on your own device. There is no HTML Lens server receiving your image, and the original file is never changed. You download a new copy.
Will it turn my photo into a blurry mess?
It tries hard not to. HTML Lens keeps the quality high first and only makes the picture smaller in dimensions when it has to. You see the before and after size and dimensions before you download anything.
What if it can't get small enough?
It tells you. HTML Lens only says a copy fits when the file it actually made is under the limit. If it can't get there, you'll see the closest it got and can decide whether to use it.
Which formats work?
JPG and PNG go in. You can save as JPEG, PNG, or WebP in browsers that can create WebP. For photos, JPEG usually gives the sharpest result for the size.
